Renault Unveils Boreal Nameplate for New 7-Seater SUV Based on the Duster

New Delhi, April 29, 2025 — Renault has officially confirmed that the seven-seater version of its popular Duster SUV will be named the Renault Boreal. Designed for markets outside Europe, including India, the new SUV is poised to expand Renault’s global ambitions under its “International Game Plan 2027.”

The Renault Boreal is expected to debut internationally in the coming months, starting with Latin America before rolling out to over 70 countries, including India. The French automaker has indicated that the Boreal will be pivotal in its strategy to strengthen its footprint in emerging markets.

India Launch Timeline for Renault Boreal

The new-generation five-seater Renault Duster is scheduled to launch in India around mid-2026, marking a major comeback for the brand’s once top-selling SUV. Following this, the larger seven-seater Boreal is expected to arrive in India sometime in mid-2027.

Renault’s decision to introduce the Boreal to the Indian market aligns with its broader plan to aggressively expand its portfolio. Recently, Renault India announced its roadmap, which includes five new models over the next three years, comprising two next-generation vehicles, two SUVs based on an all-new platform, and an electric vehicle marking the company’s foray into India’s EV segment.

Renault India has ambitious plans to boost its market share to 5% in the highly competitive Indian passenger vehicle segment. The brand is focusing on new models across the A, B+, and C segments of SUVs to achieve this target.
