SBI PO Mains Exam 2025: The State Bank of India (SBI) has officially declared the date for the main examination of the Probationary Officer (PO) Recruitment Examination 2025. This crucial exam is scheduled for the morning of September 13, 2025.


Admit Card and Instructions

The Central Recruitment and Promotion Department of SBI has announced that the admit card along with detailed instructions for the SBI PO Mains Exam will soon be available on the official SBI website.


Eligibility for the Main Exam

Eligibility Criteria:
Only candidates who have successfully cleared the recently announced SBI PO Preliminary Exam Result 2025 will be eligible to sit for this main exam. The results for the preliminary exam were released on September 1. The preliminary examination is set to take place on August 2, 4, and 5, 2025, nationwide. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 541 Probationary Officer positions (500 regular and 41 backlog).


SBI PO Selection Process

Selection Stages:
The selection process for SBI PO recruitment consists of the following stages:



  • Preliminary Exam

  • Main Exam

  • Psychometric Test/Group Exercise/Interview


  • The final selection will include a Psychometric Test for personality assessment, Group Exercises (20 marks), and an Interview (30 marks). The final merit list will be determined based on the combined scores from the Main Exam and Phase III, normalized to a total of 100 marks.


    Exam Pattern for the Main Exam

    Exam Structure:
    The SBI PO main exam will consist of two parts: an Objective Test and a Descriptive Test. The objective test will carry a total of 200 marks and will last for three hours. It will include four sections:

    Following the objective test, there will be a descriptive test worth 50 marks, which will last for 30 minutes. This section will include three questions related to email writing, report writing, situation analysis, and precis writing. The entire examination will total 250 marks, with negative marking applicable, deducting 1/4 marks for each incorrect answer.
