AGRA: Four days after an 80-year-old farmer, Satyabhan Singh, was set on fire allegedly by a land-grabber and his accomplices during an eviction drive by the revenue department at Khushipura village under Jaint police station of Mathura district, he succumbed to burn injuries at an Agra hospital on Monday, reports Sudeep Lavania.
Mathura DM C P Singh said, "We have suspended a lekhpal and a kanoongo (revenue inspector). The process to suspend the third official, a naib-tehsildar, has begun. ADM (finance & revenue) Pankaj Kumar Verma is probing the matter. He is also probing how govt documents were provided on this address."
Satyabhan suffered 70% burns. He died early on Monday. His son said they have written to CM Yogi Adityanath for a judicial probe.
