Bokaro: In a remarkable display of determination and self-reliance, Rishav Ranjan, the son of a driver, has emerged as the district topper in JEE (Main) – Session 2, securing 99.90 percentile without any coaching.
Hailing from Bihar Colony in Chas, Rishav comes from a modest background. His father Ravi Ranjan Kumar works as a car driver, and mother Ruby Devi is a homemaker. Despite financial constraints, their unwavering support helped Rishav to pursue his dream of studying computer engineering at IIT Kharagpur.
Rishav relied on school education, disciplined self-study, and selective online resources. His academic excellence was evident earlier when he topped his school with 98.02 percent in Class X board exams.
"I was determined to crack JEE and consistently worked for it, studying at least eight hours daily after school. I took help of online physics classes for concept clarity," said Rishav, who improved his percentile from 99.61 in Session 1 to 99.90 in Session 2.
A proud Ravi shared, "My son's achievement has brought us immense joy. His focus has been unwavering since childhood, avoiding distractions like mobile games and social media."
