Liverpool star man Mohamed Salah is set to hold crucial talks with Egypt manager Hossam Hassan next week in a bid to avoid another club-versus-country row ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. Egypt are due to hold a training camp before facing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 6, Jordan on December 9 and Nigeria on December 14 as part of their build-up to the winter tournament.
According to WinWin, Egypt's manager Hassan has the power to call up Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush for these three matches. However, Liverpool, who have Premier League clashes against Leeds United and Brighton, as well as a Champions League game against Inter Milan that week, want Salah available for these games.
The Daily Mail claim that Salah would prefer to stay and play these competitive matches for Liverpool, before then leaving for duty with Egypt the following week.
Salah, 33, is expected to meet with Hassan during the November international break, with Egypt set to face Uzbekistan on November 14 and Algeria on November 17 in two friendlies.
The former Chelsea and Roma player is keen to avoid a dispute between his club and country - two years after Liverpool wrote to Egypt asking for him to be exempt from an international camp to improve his long-term health.
Egypt officials were left fuming, asserting it was 'their right' to summon Salah. However, the national team eventually conceded to Liverpool's request and Salah stayed put in Merseyside.
Liverpool and Egypt are currently negotiating the timing of Salah's departure for the forthcoming AFCON tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Morocco from 21 December to 18 January.
If Salah gets his way and leaves after the Brighton game on December 13, he could potentially miss eight matches for the Reds in a worst-case scenario.
He would be unavailable for Premier League clashes against Tottenham, Wolves, Leeds, Fulham, Arsenal and Burnley, as well as a Champions League fixture at Marseille four days post-AFCON final and the FA Cup third round in early January.
Should Egypt progress to the final two, Salah could make his Liverpool comeback against Bournemouth on January 24.
Despite a dip in form this season, Salah has still managed to net five goals and provide three assists in 15 appearances for the Reds.
He has scored in each of his last two Premier League games.
