shared the full extent of his deteriorating health during an emotional exchange on on Monday June 2. The news presenter experienced a frightening fall from his chair while hosting the programme alongside Ellie Costello on May 22. Although he was reportedly unharmed by the incident, it appears that behind the scenes, Eamonn is facing significant health challenges.
Eamonn and Ellie welcomed actor Tim Vincent on to the show who discussed the report released that gives evidence that structured exercise regime reduces risk of dying by a third, can stop tumours coming back or a new cancer developingThe results were presented in Chicago at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (Asco) annual meeting, the world's largest cancer conference, and published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

As Tim shared the positives of exercise, Eamonn, 65, interjected: "This makes me feel awful because I would have been pro-exercise, but I can't move; I'm in a wheelchair now. I can't put on trainers, I can't change, I can't go to the showers, I can't stand up. There are a lot of people who can't exercise, and they are at risk of cancer. "
Tim responded: "You are in a really difficult position. Any exercise is going to help."
Eamonn suffered an awkward tumble two weeks ago while the camera was focused on commentator Charlie Rowley. A loud crash could be heard off-screen, prompting co-host Ellie to exclaim: "Oh my gosh!"
A visibly stunned Charlie immediately moved to help Ellie, but the veteran host quickly reassured viewers, saying: "I'm fine, I'm fine. Carry on, carry on." They attempted to continue the segment, but producers swiftly cut to an extended six-minute advert break.
Eamonn has faced a string of health issues in recent years. He underwent double hip replacement surgery in 2016 and had spinal surgery in 2022 to fix a long-standing back issue caused by a slipped disc.
A source shared with MailOnline: "He was obviously a bit embarrassed about what happened the other day. He has worked on TV for decades, and nothing like that has ever happened to him before. It left him a bit bruised and sore but he's on the mend now."
Eamonn returned to the screen after the break, joking: "I'm still alive! They're very wonky wheels on chairs we've got here, as a matter of fact we don't really like the chairs here."
The incident comes just weeks after The Irish star fell in his bathroom, suffering the "sorest and most powerful" knock to his head.
