Danny Dyer, 47, engaged with an extraordinary array of interviewers - all autistic, neurodivergent, and/or learning-disabled - for a poignant special episode of The Assembly. During the session, Danny candidly answered queries about his family, schooling choices for his kids, paternal bonds, and his poignant departure from the EastEnders series.
Throughout this intense exchange, the actor was visibly moved, yet it was a musical rendition by the interviewing troop that truly overwhelmed him. The climax of The Assembly saw the group give an impassioned performance of Primal Scream's "Movin' On Up", which deeply touched Dyer.
A mere seconds into their heartfelt act, Danny could be seen attempting to ward off tears by tilting his head back, a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful effort as he was later observed wiping his eyes.
As the song gained momentum, Danny not only sang along but also became a spirited cheerleader for the performers. He exclaimed to the participants: "F***ing amazing."
And when queried on whether it bettered his time on EastEnders, he remarked, unabashed: "P****s all over it."
When asked how he felt about participating in The Assembly and what he cherished most, Danny shared, visibly emotional: "It's been an honour if I'm honest. This has been very emotional, great learning about you lot, learned a bit about myself."

Overcome with emotion, he added: "I'm a bit emotional but that was f***ing amazing that tune. I will say, you better prepare yourself for a bit of fame because I think this show is going to be massive. You lot use your fame responsibly because I never. Thank you for having me."
In a candid segment of the interview, Danny opened up about his rocky relationship with wife Joanne Mas.
Interviewer Chardonnay probed: "When Jo kicked you out she emptied your shared bank account. Do you still have a shared bank account?"
A visibly shaken Danny replied with his head in his hands: "I gave you a cuddle and thought this is going to be a lovely question then you f**king hit me with that."
He then elaborated: "Yes she did kick me out because I was a prick and she deserved better. Sometimes I would go out and get off my head and take drugs and I wouldn't come home for three days."
Danny concluded with a raw admission: "I had issues and I didn't want the party to end. She had every right to throw me out. She controls everything now."
The Assembly airs Saturday on ITV at 10.05pm.
