A best-selling cookbook author and expert has revealed a clever hack that makes delicious chicken kievs easier and healthier than ever. Hayley Dean, known as @Hayleys.World on Instagram, has released three bestselling cookbooks on air fryer cooking to help the nation embrace a faster, healthier way to prepare their favourite meals.
Recently featured on ITV, she demonstrated how classic British dishes like Yorkshire puddings can be made in the air fryer with far less oil without compromising on taste. Now, she's turning heads with an easy hack to make crispy chicken kiev bites from her second cookbook, where each recipe is around 600 calories per serving.
She revealed "the trick is to freeze the garlic butter first," before forming the kievs. The frozen garlic butter makes it easier to handle when making the chicken bites, and could also prevent the butter from completely melting and drying up.
She wrote, "These are sooooo delish!!" alongside a video of garlic butter oozing out of the crispy chicken kievs.
The chef explained you should season some chicken mince before wrapping it around the frozen butter. Once it is formed into a ball, it then needs to be coated with beaten egg, and rolled in Panko breadcrumbs.
Hayley then sprays it with oil instead of the traditional method of deep frying, and cooks it for about 15 minutes in the air fryer on 180, turning halfway.
One fan wrote: "These look so good," while another added: "Love chicken Kievs, makes me reminisce of my childhood when my mum used to make them."
She shared the recipe from her second book, 'How to make anything in an air fryer - easy dinners'.
