Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has not been keeping well lately. The 89-year-old legend was recently admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he spent several days in the ICU. After his condition improved, he was discharged and is now recovering at home under medical supervision.

Known to millions as Hindi cinema’s He-Man, Dharmendra is admired for his strength and charm — but behind that tough image lies a deeply emotional man. Few people know that he often sheds tears over emotional moments, though he rarely lets anyone see them. One such touching incident happened years ago when Dharmendra met his close friend Feroz Khan in the hospital — a meeting that left both men in tears.

When Dharmendra Opened Up About Crying

In 2009, Dharmendra appeared with his son Sunny Deol on Salman Khan’s quiz show “10 Ka Dum.” During the show, Salman asked him, “How many percent of Indians believe that real men don’t cry?”

Dharmendra smiled and said, “I think about 70 percent don’t.”
When Salman asked him if he ever cried, the veteran actor replied,
“Yes, because of our strong image, we go in secretly, shed our tears, wipe them, and come back. Sometimes we just can’t control ourselves. Not always, but sometimes it happens.”

He clarified that he never cried because of physical pain — his tears always came from emotional moments.

The Day Dharmendra and Feroz Khan Cried Together

Dharmendra then recalled one of the most emotional moments of his life.
He said, “Recently, I went to the hospital to see my dear friend Feroz Khan. I had gone there thinking I would comfort him. But when he saw me, he opened his arms, laughed, and hugged me. We both just broke down. We couldn’t control ourselves and kept hugging for nearly ten minutes. He was crying, I was crying — it just happened.”

The actor added, “People with sensitive hearts often express emotions through tears. That’s just how it is.”

Feroz Khan’s Final Days

Feroz Khan, one of Indian cinema’s most charismatic stars, passed away on April 27, 2009, at the age of 73 after a long battle with cancer. He breathed his last in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Feroz Khan and Dharmendra shared a strong bond both on and off-screen. The two starred together in several memorable films, including Aadmi Aur Insaan, Chunauti, and International Crook. Their friendship, much like their performances, remains unforgettable in Bollywood history.
