In a heartbreaking incident near Thiruporur, Chennai, a 7-year-old boy named Kevin lost his life when the airbag of a car deployed following a sudden collision. The child was sitting on his father's lap in the front seat when the accident occurred. The crash was caused when the car ahead, driven by Suresh, abruptly braked and turned without signaling, causing the car behind, driven by Vignesh, to collide with it.
The force of the airbag hitting Kevin rendered him unconscious, and despite being rushed to the Government Hospital in Thirupur, he was declared dead. Kevin’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death.
Police have filed a case for negligent driving against Suresh, highlighting his failure to use indicators and sudden braking as key factors in the accident. The accident also underscores the vital importance of road safety rules, especially the need for children to be seated in appropriate child safety seats in the rear, as airbags designed for adults can be fatal to young passengers.
The tragic loss has brought reminders about the dangers of improper seating arrangements and neglecting basic traffic safety norms. It is a sobering message for all drivers and families to prioritize safety at all times.
