Ruben Amorim makes feelings clear on Alejandro Garnacho after Man Utd transfer decision

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim said he has no hard feelings over Alejandro Garnacho's desire to leave Old Trafford for a new challenge.

Winger Garnacho fell out with Amorim after he was dropped for the Europa League final, whichUnited lost 1-0to Tottenham in Bilbao.

In the immediate aftermath of the defeat, Garnacho criticised Amorim's decision and said he would consider his future over the summer.

Amorim responded by telling £40million-rated Garnacho he was not part of his future plans and left him off United's US tour, with several other players who want out of the club.

But Amorim said the best solution was for United and Garnacho to part ways, given the 20-year-old clearly wants to play elsewhere.

"I think with Garnacho, you can understand and you can see that he's talented, he's a really talented boy,” said Amorim. "But sometimes things don't work out and you cannot explain specifically what it is.

"But I have the feeling – and I think it's clear - that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership and I can understand that.

"So I don't think it's a problem. Sometimes you adapt to one guy and you have the connection. Other times you want a new challenge.

"So we try to make everything OK for all parties. To the club, to the coach and to the player. It's a natural thing in football."

Garnacho wants to join Chelsea, who have enquired about him, while there has also been interest from Aston Villa and Serie A side Napoli.

The Argentine is not the only player to have fallen out of favour with Amorim after Marcus Rashford also disagreed with the coach last season before being sent on loan to Aston Villa. He's since secured a loan move to Barcelona.

Garnacho is now one of four players in the group known as the "bomb squad" - United outcasts who have been excluded from the US pre-season tour as they look for new clubs - including Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
