A kayaker had a front-row seat to a dramatic cliff collapse at a popular beach, capturing the terrifying moment on video. The landslide occurred at Golden Cap cliff in Dorset, with tonnes of rock tumbling onto the beach below.
Jamie Reed, 50, was enjoying a midday kayak session on Friday, August 22, when he heard an 'almighty thud' and saw dust clouds billowing from the cliffside. Jamie, a window fitter from Keighley, West Yorkshire, who is currently touring England in his caravan, managed to film the incredible scene.
He recalled: "I was fishing and I just heard this almighty thud, like an explosion. All you could see was this massive dust cloud where the land had slid and hit the beach. I was just like 'oh my gosh' - I could see it falling.

"The rocks just kept coming and coming, four or five times after the first. I brought my rods in, and headed there as quickly as possible. I was scouting the beach from the edge of the water to make sure people weren't about."
Jamie also noted that the RNLI arrived swiftly on the scene, asking him if he had seen anyone on the beach. He said: "I saw the RNLI came flying out and they asked if I had seen anyone on the beach - which I didn't. They asked if I could go and tell some blokes fishing on the rocks to move to a safe distance, which I did."
The Marine Coastguard Agency confirmed the incident, stating: "Lyme Regis and West Bay Coastguard Rescue Teams and the RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Lyme Regis were sent to a report made at about 12.50pm on 22 August of a landslide at Golden Cap, Dorset.
"It was confirmed there was no one in distress and the local land manager was informed."
