Lily Collins'father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell, shared his true feelings for her popular Netflix series, Emily In Paris. Launching on the streaming service in 2020, the hit comedy-drama follows a fashionista in her late 20s, Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins), who moves from Chicago to Paris when she lands a job at a respected French marketing firm.
While adjusting to the many challenges of her new European surroundings, she quickly makes new friends and finds herself wrapped up in complicated romantic entanglements. The show has been a massive hit with fans but received a lot of criticism over the years for its unrealistic portrayals of the country and its people.
Adding to the criticism, A Clockwork Orange actor Malcolm McDowell admitted he never watched Lily's series and said the plot doesn't draw him in.

"To be honest with you, it's not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that," he said to People. "But I'm the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she's absolutely one of the great actresses."
Malcom's son is Charlie McDowell, who married Lily in 2021. While Malcolm doesn't watch the show, he said he's proud of the daughter of Phil Collins.
"She has such a beautiful quality. As far as I'm concerned, when she's on the screen, there's nobody else on it, because she's not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality. I suppose, it's a sort of charisma," he added.
Season four saw Emily moving away from the French capital for the first time, finding her feet in Rome. Season five continues the story in Rome and has also added Venice as a new location.
Netflix confirmed that all 10 episodes of the next series will come out on December 18, with the story continuing with Emily being the head of Agence Grateau Rome as she faces career and love life challenges.
The official synopsis said: “But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks.
“Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships.
“Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.”
All the fan-favourites are returning for the season, including Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello, Bruno Gouery as Luc, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau, William Abadie as Antoine, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, and Ashley Park as Mindy.
