Charlie Kirk's assassin could have picked a rooftop which allowed them to quickly run and get "miles and miles away", a retired FBI agent claimed.
The shooter - who remains at large - fired a single but fatal shot at Kirk's neck from the top of a building at the Utah Valley University, officials have said. A newly released video showed someone jumping off the roof of the Losee Center Building, around 180metres away from where Kirk was sitting in a pop-up tent. Retired FBI supervising agent James Gagliano said the shooter appeared to have carefully picked out a spot that would allow them to carefully and quickly run away from the scene.

The FBI released details about their suspected gunman, who has not been caught, saying they appeared "to be of college age" and "blended in". A new video of the possible shooter jumping off a roof and a person of interest image shared by the FBI have marked significant steps in the hunt for the suspect.
Ex-FBI agent Gagliano, speaking to Fox & Friends, shared why he thought the alleged gunman's position on campus allowed them to get away far in just minutes. Gagliano said: "If you come off that roof — and I’ve seen the drone footage of this - there’s an open-air parking lot behind that building."
He added: "It’s spitting distance from I-15 … a major thoroughfare there. So this is a big concern because this person, within three to five minutes of that shot going off, that person could have been in a vehicle on his way out and miles and miles away."
Gagliano even suggested the suspect could have fled to a nearby airport, possibly flying miles away from the crime site. He said: "Provo airport’s only about 45 minutes from there."
The manhunt continues after the 31-year-old conservative political activist was hit in the neck by a bullet in front of 3,000 students at a debate event he hosted.

The Utah Department of Public Safety confirmed no one is currently in custody despite multiple agencies working together to track down the suspect and a $100,000 bounty.
Last night, at a press conference, the FBI released the new high-quality video showing the suspected shooter fleeing across a campus rooftop and making a large jump to the ground before running away.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said they were releasing the video to "get as much attention as possible, in order to get help from the public to track down this evil human being." Cox added that investigators have received more than 7000 tipoffs and conducted over 200 interviews in their search for the shooter.
FBI agent in charge Robert Bohls added: "He left some palm impressions, some places where we're hoping to gather some DNA." Despite these crucial developments, officials added that they had "no idea" where the killer is and even if they had crossed state lines.
Along with the new video, officials shared information on a high-calibre rifle believed to have been used to take the deadly shot. After recovering the firearm in a wooded area on campus, officials are investigating supposed engravings on the rifle that could hint at the killer's motives.
