Pahalgam Horseman Syed Adil Hussain Shah's Family Meets Eknath Shinde, Receives Aid After Sacrifice

The family of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a horseman from Pahalgam who lost his life while saving Indian tourists during a terrorist attack, met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today. They expressed gratitude for his recognition of Adil’s sacrifice and for extending financial aid to the bereaved family.

Attack Claimed 26 Lives
On April 22, 2025, terrorists attacked Indian tourists in Pahalgam, killing 26 people. The assailants reportedly targeted civilians after asking about their religion. Amid the assault, Adil Hussain Shah, who worked as a horseman, attempted to stop the terrorists and protect several tourists. In the process, he was shot dead. His act of bravery earned nationwide recognition.

Loss of Family’s Breadwinner
Adil’s death left his family without their primary source of income. Recognising his sacrifice, Shinde had earlier sent officials and party members to deliver ₹5 lakh in assistance to the family.

Shinde’s Words of Support
Speaking during the meeting, Shinde said that no amount of aid could ever compensate for the loss of a son. He described the financial help as a token of gratitude on behalf of the nation and assured the family that the Shiv Sena would stand firmly with them, providing any necessary support in the future.

Plans to Revive Tourism in Kashmir
Shinde also mentioned that the central government is working to restore normalcy in Kashmir so that tourists from across the country return, turning the region into the ‘Paradise on Earth’ once again.

Maharashtra Bhavan Proposal
He revealed that the Maharashtra government plans to acquire land in the region to build a well-equipped ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ to attract more visitors. This, he said, would help revive employment opportunities for local hoteliers, horsemen, tourist guides, and small traders.
