Mumbai: In a shocking incident from Mumbai's Wadala East, a 32-year-old man was allegedly strangled to death by his friend during a drunken brawl late Tuesday night.
The incident took place around 11:30 PM on April 16 in the Shanti Nagar area. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Salman Mohammad Idris Ansari, a daily wage worker residing with his family in Wadala East.
According to police sources, the accused, Mohankumar Rajkumar Verma (25), a local resident of Shanti Nagar, along with his friend Shivkumar Yadav, had met Salman and his friend Alam Khan at a toddy shop in Ganesh Nagar. The group consumed alcohol together before an argument broke out.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from a previous incident in which Salman had confronted Mohankumar over taking his brother Subhan alias Babu’s mobile phone without permission two weeks ago. The dispute escalated quickly, and in a fit of rage, Mohankumar allegedly strangled Salman with both hands, leading to his immediate death on the spot.
Following the incident, police registered a case of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused was arrested on April 17, and further investigation is being carried out by Wadala Police.
