Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, who etched himself into cinematic history with his serene portrayal of Lord Sai Baba in Manoj Kumar’s 1977 classic Shirdi Ke Saibaba, has been hospitalised at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital since October 8, 2025. The 86-year-old actor, celebrated for his calm expressions and gentle screen presence, is currently battling severe sepsis — a life-threatening infection that demands intensive medical care.
According to reports, Dalvi’s medical expenses have already exceeded Rs 10 lakh, leaving his family struggling to keep up with the mounting bills. Doctors estimate that the total treatment cost may reach around Rs 15 lakh. His loved ones have now appealed to fans, colleagues, and members of the film fraternity for financial support to help with his recovery.
After spotting a post about Dalvi’s condition shared by celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani — which also included details for donations — Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor, quietly stepped in to contribute. She left a simple comment on the post saying “Done 🙏,” suggesting that she had sent monetary aid for the veteran actor’s treatment.
However, her thoughtful gesture soon drew an unnecessary comment from a troll who questioned her intentions and accused her of seeking attention. Riddhima didn’t stay silent. She replied with grace, writing that not everything in life is about optics and that helping someone in need, in whatever capacity one can, is a blessing in itself.
