Lucknow Super Giants clinched a nail-biting two-run win against Rajasthan Royals in Match 36 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, April 19. With the narrow win, LSG reached the double-digit mark on the points table with 10 points on the board.

Batting first, LSG posted 180/5. Mitchell Marsh (4 off 6), Nicholas Pooran (11 off 8), and Rishabh Pant (3 off 9) fell cheaply, but Aiden Markram (66 off 45) and Ayush Badoni (50 off 34) led the innings towards a more stable territory. Abdul Samad’s late fireworks saw Sandeep Sharma conceding 27 in the final over. Samad ended up on 30* off 10. 

RR started strong inside the powerplay. 14-year-old IPL debutant, , impressed one and all with 34 off 20 balls. The tide turned when Markram dismissed Suryavanshi and later when Avesh Khan’s double-strike got rid of both Yashasvi Jaiswal (74 off 52) and Riyan Parag (39 off 26) late in the chase. With nine needed off the final over, Avesh held his nerve and gave away just six in what was a brilliant exhibition of death-overs bowling.

Samad provided the injection of momentum LSG would've hoped for at the death. He dismantled Sandeep for four maximums to guide LSG to a competitive total. After David Miller handed over the strike to Samad, he smacked the medium pacer for four sixes in the next five balls in emphatic fashion.

3. Avesh Khan's final over heroics guide LSG to nail-biting victory

Avesh, who had conceded 31 in his first three overs, was entrusted to defend nine runs in the final over of the game. The right-arm fast medium bowler not only picked up the crucial wicket of Shimron Hetmyer, but was successful in his goal of leading LSG to victory too.
