Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], September 13 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Manipur visit and said no PM has been as concerned about the Northeast as PM Modi, who has visited the region more than 60 times since taking office in 2014.
He announced PM Modi's visit to Tripura on September 22 to inaugurate and perform puja at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, a key Shakti Peeth. Saha emphasised Modi's focus on the Northeast, noting his over 60 visits to the region as Prime Minister.
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Manipur and Tripura, Saha said, "The situation in Manipur is very good, and the Prime Minister is there. He is also visiting Tripura on September 22."
He further elaborated on the development of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, in Tripura, stating, "We have developed it as per the Prime Minister's wish. He will inaugurate it and perform Puja at the temple."
Saha praised PM Modi's commitment to the Northeast, remarking, "No Prime Minister has been as concerned about the Northeast as Narendra Modi ji, who has visited the region more than 60 times since taking office."
During his visit to Manipur on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to various ethnic groups in Manipur to shun violence and work towards restoring peace in the State. He stated that a new dawn of "hope and confidence" is emerging in the northeastern State.
It is PM Modi's first visit to Manipur after an ethnic conflict erupted in the state in May 2023, and the discord between the Meitei and Kuki communities has persisted since then. The conflict has inflicted lasting damage on Manipur, hindering its economy, disrupting its social cohesion, and destabilising its political landscape.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore at Churachandpur in Manipur.
Meanwhile, while addressing the 22nd National and 2nd International Indian Forensic Odontology Conference (IAFOCON-25) at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasised the significance of forensic odontology.
Saha expressed his delight at attending the event, stating, "I am very happy today because I myself am an oral maxillofacial surgeon, and when the Vice Chancellor of NFSU invited me, I immediately agreed to come. The whole world knows about NFSU, and forensic odontology is very important for us."
Saha also highlighted the expansion of NFSU, noting that a branch has been established in Tripura, offering various courses. "In Tripura, NFSU's branch has also opened, and many courses have started there," he added. (ANI)
