WhatsApp has rolled out a brand-new feature called ‘Schedule Calls’ for its users. With this update, both group calls and one-on-one calls can now be scheduled in advance, just like meetings on Zoom or Google Meet. The scheduled calls will also sync with Google Calendar for better tracking.
What’s New?-
Users can now pre-schedule calls on WhatsApp.
-
Works for both group and individual calls.
-
All participants will receive a notification on WhatsApp before the call begins.
Open WhatsApp and head to the Calls Tab.
Tap the + button to see the new “Schedule Call” option.
Select the date and time for the call.
Send invitations directly via WhatsApp.
Add the scheduled call to Google Calendar for tracking.
Participants will get a reminder notification before the call starts.
This update puts WhatsApp in direct competition with Zoom and Google Meet. Users no longer need separate apps to schedule calls. Additionally, WhatsApp has enhanced the calling experience with UI improvements, plus features like Raise Hand and Emoji Reactions, making group calls and meetings smoother.
Official StatementIn a press note, WhatsApp said: “We are introducing new ways for people to connect, whether it’s a casual chat with family or a professional meeting. This update makes WhatsApp more useful and convenient than ever.”
