The Ministry of Women and Child Development is giving women an opportunity to do an internship. This program is especially for women between the ages of 21 and 40. In a written reply given in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament, the ministry said that the purpose of this scheme is to give women an opportunity to closely understand and work on the schemes and policies of the ministry.
Students, teachers, researchers, and social workers can apply for this internship. The selected candidates will have to work on pilot projects and small research studies related to the existing schemes of the ministry. After the completion of the internship, the participants will have to prepare analytical reports, research papers, or studies based on their research and experience, which will help in further policy-making.
How to apply for an internship
To apply, female candidates have to visit wcd.intern.nic.in. The application has to be made between the 1st and 10th of one month before the batch they want to join. For example, if you want to join the August-September batch, then you will have to apply between 1 and 10 June. Along with the application, you will have to upload a CV and Statement of Purpose (SOP), i.e., the reason for doing an internship in the ministry and details of interest.
Who can apply?
The ministry has divided the applicants into two categories. First working and second non-working. Teachers, researchers, and social workers can apply in the working category. At the same time, under the non-working category, students currently pursuing graduate or post-graduate studies can apply. Regional and socio-economic diversity will be taken into account during the selection. Women will be selected from both rural and urban areas, from these 6 zones - North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East. The ministry is especially encouraging women from non-metro cities and villages to apply.
When will the internship take place?

November-December
February-March
Each batch will be of two months and a maximum of 20 women will be selected. During the internship, participants can also be given additional projects or studies if needed. The ministry has clarified that through this internship, women will not only get work experience, but they will also get a platform to give concrete suggestions on issues related to women and children in the country.
